Our Research

The NZAGRC and PGgRc are focused on development of efficient, cost effective farm solutions through the reduction of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions.

New Zealand's research into reducing livestock greenhouse gas emissions concentrates on six possible solutions:

  1. Low methane animals
  2. Low methane feeds
  3. Methane vaccine
  4. Methane inhibitors
  5. Reduce nitrous oxide and nitrate leaching
  6. Increasing soil carbon

An integrated systems research programme runs alongside the detailed research work to quantify the contribution that farmers already make through their increased efficiencies.

The NZAGRC also runs a research stream dedicated to assist the M?ori pastoral sector to improve its collective capacity to increase resource
efficiency and farm productivity while lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
