Global Research Alliance Postdoctoral Fellow: Policy Support,
Ackim helps to implement New Zealand’s engagement strategy with the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA) in Africa. That strategy aims to encourage more African countries to join the GRA, and help members to better account for and mitigate their agricultural greenhouse emissions.
The role encompasses a wide range of science and policy-related responsibilities, working closely with the Ministry for Primary Industries GRA team.
Ackim brings wide experience. He served as Natural Resources Management Officer for the Ministry of Lands, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection in his native Zambia, worked in a technical role for Zambia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and has lectured at the Zambia College of Agriculture.
He completed a PhD in Natural Resource Management and a Master of Environmental Management (with distinction) at Massey University in New Zealand, and has achieved other academic successes in Zambia, Portugal, Germany and China.
Ackim says he is very fortunate to work for an organisation that is accelerating scientific and technological discovery in agriculture and mobilising New Zealand’s scientific excellence for international benefit.
