Dr Jeroen Dijkman, NZAGRC Deputy Director (International)
Jeroen is Deputy Director (International) of the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre (NZAGRC). His international research, partnership and capability building activities focus on the features of the livestock sector in a world that limits global warming within the temperature goal of the Paris Agreement, whilst balancing for selected livelihood, food and nutritional security, social, health and cultural; and other environmental outcomes encompassed by the Sustainable Development Goals
Jeroen is the Co-Chair of the Livestock Research Group of the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gasses and also serves as the Senior Technical adviser to the UN Environment Climate and Clean Air Coalition Agriculture Initiative.
He has worked and consulted extensively for bi- and multi-lateral donors, I-NGOs, CGIAR centres, the World Bank and UN agencies in all major developing regions of the world. He has, for example, been previously active as the director of the Enabling Innovation theme of International Livestock Research Institute and the senior officer of the Animal Production and Health Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) responsible for the design, establishment and coordination of the Pro-Poor Livestock Policy Initiative and the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock. More recently, Jeroen was the senior research officer for the Secretariat of the Independent Science and Partnership Council to the CGIAR, providing strategic advice to a global portfolio of 15 corporate research programmes of the CGIAR on agricultural research for development, climate change, agri-food system innovation, nutrition and health, and impact assessment.
