Dr Carlos Gonzalez Fischer, Post-Doctoral Scientist

Carlos is a Post-Doctoral Scientist at the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre (NZAGRC), where he supports the NZAGRC’s work towards the International Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) Assessment Reports. His research aims at understanding what livestock looks like in a world that limits global warming within the temperature goal of the Paris Agreement, whilst balancing for selected livelihood, food and nutritional security, social, health and cultural; and other environmental outcomes encompassed by the Sustainable Development Goals.

Carlos is originally from Argentina and has a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires. Before moving to New Zealand in February 2020, he lived in Argentina and in the UK, where he worked in academia, NGOs, with UN agencies and governments, looking at different aspects of the sustainability of food systems, with a focus on livestock.
