Postdoctoral fellowship programme

Capable scientists are needed to help us deliver new greenhouse gas mitigation tools and technologies into the hands of farmers.

The postdoctoral fellowship programme supports research towards reducing New Zealand’s agricultural greenhouse gas emissions.

The Ag Emissions Centre (AgEC)—formerly known as the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre (NZAGRC)—is excited to announce the launch of our 2025 Post-Doctoral Fellowship Programme for Early Career Researchers.

We’re inviting applications from New Zealand-based research organisations—including universities, Public Research Organisations, and other research providers—to host one or more post-doctoral fellows. Fellowships will run for up to two years and are open to entities working on funded projects aimed at reducing agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, specifically methane and nitrous oxide.

📄 For full details, please refer to the guidelines [WORD, 43 KB] and application form [WORD, 73 KB] .
📅 Applications close on 15 November 2025.

Post-doctoral fellowship programme frequently asked questions (FAQ)

  1. Who is this programme for? At this stage, the post-doctoral fellowship programme is only open to research organisations with funded projects investigating agricultural greenhouse gas emission mitigation (specifically enteric methane and nitrous oxide from soil). The successful organisations will then be advertising for the actual fellowships – this is likely to be early in 2026. Please keep an eye on this web page for updates.
